The Facts About Alcohol and Fat-burning.

If you're serious about your health, fitness and athletic performance, and you want the maximum possible benefit from your programme, you should drink alcoholic beverages in moderation or not at all.

Are you one of those people who eat good Monday to Friday, then on a Friday or Saturday night go out and get 'bladdered' and eat bad foord to cure your hangover?

Do you wonder why you can't lose weight? Well, Monday to Friday you're good and create a calorie deficit of say 500 calories a day - that's 2,500 calories.

Then in that one or two nights more than likely you eat and drink more than that and put it all back on again and more. Then you're stuck in a vicious cycle, gaining a little more wright week by week.

At 7 calories per gram, alcohol is the second most calorie dense nutrient behind fat, which contains 9 calories per gram. Therefore, alcohol contributes a large number of calories to your total daily intake above and beyond the food you normally consume.

When alcohol is in your system, your body will simply convert more of the food your eat into body fat.

Regardless of whether the calories come from food or drinks, if you consume more calories than your body needs, the excess will be stored as fat.
